This summer we’re incredibly excited to have comedian John Mulaney, dog lover and owner of the ever-adorable Petunia, to headline the BGA’s fourth annual Summer Comedy FUN-raiser! (We hear the Lincoln Park native and Emmy Award-winning comedian is pretty funny too.)

My two faves ??

When he’s not playing with Petunia, Mulaney performs stand up at sold-out shows across the country. At 32, Mulaney has a resume most don’t achieve in a lifetime. In two years, he went from answering phones at Comedy Central to writing for Saturday Night Live. He won a Primetime Emmy in 2011 for Justin Timberlake’s “I’m Not Going to Sing Tonight” monologue, co-written with Timberlake, Seth Meyers, and Katreese Barnes. He also worked with Bill Hader to create his the famous SNL City Correspondent Stefon.

During his six-season tenure at SNL, Mulaney also produced the comedy album, The Top Part, and New in Town, a special that drew critical acclaim. Variety named him one of their “10 Comics to Watch” and Entertainment Weekly has called him “one of the best stand-up comics alive.”

Most recently he starred in the semi-autobiographical sitcom, Mulaney, on Fox and has taken to the road for an incredibly successful stand-up tour.

A few of my BGA colleagues were lucky enough to catch one his two sold-out shows at The Chicago Theatre in May. They said he was hilarious! Those shows were taped for a Netflix comedy special, so you might see it soon. But you can see him live on Thursday, Aug. 6 at our Summer Comedy FUN-raiser! Tickets are going fast; learn more here.

As our favorite City Correspondent Stefan would say, this event has everything: good food, a great cause and a hilarious headliner.
